MEET OUR SALES DEPARTMENT
Judging by the smiles we see when we present our customers with their keys, taking delivery of a new BMW is surely one of life’s sweet experiences. While some may try to contain their enthusiasm – perhaps prompted by a needless sense of decorum – it’s hard to hide that look of excitement and anticipation as they slide behind the wheel.

We love that moment as well, and for forty years have devoted ourselves to achieving that satisfying outcome, every time.

The path to your new BMW begins the first time we meet, whether that’s through our website or in our showroom. With your satisfaction as a top priority, our Client Advisors will provide information as detailed as you wish, and will guide you through each step of the process at a pace attuned to your comfort level. And because we have empowered them with a degree of autonomy rarely found in this business, decisions can be reached – and agreements honored – without the superfluous involvement of a manager. Many of our customers find that refreshing and liberating.

We believe we will meet all your expectations. Our inventory is comprehensive, our pricing competitive, and we have a broad range of leasing and financing options from which to choose. And when it’s time to service your BMW under its incredibly comprehensive maintenance warranty, our factory-trained technicians will treat your car with all the skill and care it deserves.

We’re delighted you stopped by our website, and while you’re here we encourage you to check out our Inventory and our Special Offers pages. Should you find that BMW of your dreams, simply contact our Customer Experience Center (866.870.9046 or send us an email). They'll schedule your visit at our West Chester showroom, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn first hand why BMWs are universally acknowledged as the Ultimate Driving Machine!

Before I came to Otto’s, I was import sales manager at a dealership in Wilmington. I enjoyed that responsibility, and it was only the strong desire to work for Otto’s and sell BMWs that led me to move here in 2002 to become a Client Advisor in our West Chester location.

Almost immediately, I discovered that not only did many of my clients have the same level of enthusiasm for BMW's cars as I, they were also very knowledgeable about the product line. Whether from experience or their own research, they had a clear understanding of what distinguishes BMW from other performance luxury automobiles. Even those who may have had financial limitations appreciated the value of these cars and understood why they are worth the investment.

There’s no question that my time as a Client Advisor in combination with three decades in the automotive industry built an empathetic understanding and a depth of perspective on what it means to be a good BMW Sales Manager. From the outset, my goal in this position was to create and maintain a highly professional working environment for our staff as well as very pleasant surroundings for our guests and clients.

I think we do a good job in making people comfortable when they come in. It’s a friendly, intimate setting and I think that puts people at ease. Customers tell me they feel well treated here. We get that comment constantly, and I suspect it’s because we always adjust the pace of the process to suit their timing.

We get a lot of floor traffic from service clients waiting for their vehicles. They walk over to our showroom to lust over the new models, and if their schedule permits we will offer them a product presentation and demonstration drive. They may be two years away from a new vehicle, but we feel they’ll remember their experience here and consider us when the time is right.

When I'm not at Otto's, I enjoy working on my home and have spent considerable time over the years making renovations and improvements. I also enjoy traveling, the Caribbean being a perennial favorite.

A friend once described my approach to life as “passionate participation,” and I think it’s true. Whether it’s my commitment to my family, my involvement in sports, or selling these amazing automobiles, I am wired to go all out for the things that matter most to me.

My dad was really into cars, and that sparked my interest. I remember he bought an Acura Legend when they first came out, which he loved, and when I was old enough, I got an NSX. I was really impressed with its engine – I thought it sounded like a Formula One – and it remained my favorite car until I discovered BMWs.

I was born in New London, Connecticut, but moved to Downingtown with my parents when I was ten. After high school, I studied photography at Drexel University and worked in the restaurant business, first as a waiter and then bartender. That’s when I first realized I was a bit of a natural around customers, finding the interaction really satisfying.

One day a friend at a local car dealership put it together for me, basically saying “you like automobiles, you’ll love selling them.” I got a job there, and it turned out he was right. It was also there that I bought my first BMW, a 2000 328 coupe stick shift. I was impressed by the styling and sportiness, and of course, with its reputation.

It wasn’t long before I realized this was the car I wanted to sell, and after a few months of hounding the manager here at Otto’s, a position opened up in January 2005. It’s been great, particularly since we launched our Exton dealership and I get to work here where I grew up. It’s really comfortable for me.

And that’s my approach with customers – comfortable. I never push, but instead listen carefully, using my instincts and experience to help them find the model best suited to their priorities. They seem to appreciate my enthusiasm and product knowledge.

When I’m not selling, I’m all about sports. I am addicted to mountain biking and snowboarding, and the best is when those seasons overlap. Once I went heli-boarding in British Columbia, which was quite a rush. And while my wife and daughters don’t go to those extremes, they definitely enjoy sharing the sport – and the travel – with me.

I was born and raised in the Lancaster County area. After college, I worked at a VW-Porsche-Audi dealer in Lancaster until I left to start my own company transporting high-line vehicles in the Mid-Atlantic region. A couple of years later, however, I decided I really wanted to get back into the activity of a dealership, and with my family history, BMW was the natural choice.

I was actually the ultimate BMW baby, having been born just as my mother was being lifted from our 1600 Alpina onto a gurney. Dad still has that ’67 Alpina, and has added a number of other BMWs over the years, mostly M cars. My first automobile was also a Bimmer – a 1976 2002.

Our family had been in the furniture business since 1820, but growing up my dad always had an interest in cars. He had a shop where he restored and repaired vehicles, and throughout the late sixties and early seventies he competed in a lot of road races, hill-climbs, and MINI stocks. I’m a big Formula One fan, and have been following the sport since I was a kid.

Here at Otto’s, my style of presentation bridges the early “enthusiasts-only” days to now, where BMWs are viewed and widely admired as the world’s best luxury sports vehicles. I like to talk to people, find out what’s important to them, and put them in the right car. I strive hard to make sure my clients find the perfect automobile for their needs and desires. It’s important to me that they’re completely satisfied with the entire process.

Beyond my family and Motorsport, my passions include traveling, mountain biking, and visiting vineyards, both here and abroad.

I drove my first BMW shortly after I graduated from college. I was twenty-two, had taken a sales job at a family-owned Ford dealership in Pottstown, and this gorgeous ’86 325es came in on a trade. I remember just sitting in the car, a bit puzzled – but also intrigued – by the somewhat confusing little onboard computer display. I had never seen anything like it. I took the car home for a couple of nights and realized this was a very different driving experience than I had ever had.

I then moved to Atlanta, and given my long-standing admiration for BMWs, I decided it was a natural choice to start selling them – which I did. Once we returned to the area, it was an equally obvious decision to apply for a job here at Otto’s. That was fourteen years ago, and I now have the longest tenure of any of our Sales Advisors. It’s been a wonderful place to work.

I really enjoy our clientele. They’re educated, successful, and really appreciate the level of excellence that’s built into every BMW. They have the freedom to choose any car they desire, which makes the whole buying experience a joy rather than a stressful necessity. There’s something very satisfying about being part of a process in which people who have worked very hard are now treating themselves to the world’s finest automobile.

When I’m not here at the dealership, I really enjoy being with daughter. Any time I can spend with her is what I treasure.

I was born and raised in Cherry Hill, NJ. I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2006 with a BS in human resources, education, and public policy – and a minor in criminal justice. That major gave me a chance to take a wide variety of classes in various fields, while the minor narrowed it down for my intended path, which was law school. My dad is a defense attorney, so I guess it was in my blood, but I felt drawn more toward child advocacy, perhaps working in the district attorney’s office.

I took my L-SATs and got my applications ready for law school, but in the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to explore the other passion in my life: cars. From my earliest memories, I loved everything to do with cars, whether it was helping my parents pick out their new model, going to auto shows, or reading everything I could get my hands on.

The dilemma was trying to figure out how I could make these twin interests, the law and cars, intersect. One thing I definitely wanted to avoid was investing three years in law school, only to discover it wasn’t what I wanted to do. My solution? Take a break in my education and get out in to the working world

After a brief stint as a legal assistant to the mayor of Newark, DE, something I had done as a college intern, I found a job at Mercedes Benz of Wilmington. I was hired to create their version of the Customer Experience Center, and in short order was promoted to manager, which I loved. Later I moved to West Chester to work for all three dealerships, and stayed there until January 2009, when an upper level change led to layoffs – including mine.

Fortunately, someone I had worked with there had moved to our MINI dealership, and suggested I apply here for a position in the Sales Department. I was hired in September 2009, and I couldn’t be happier. We’re such a solid unit, like a family. Everyone cares for each other, backs each other up. It’s really nice.

Honestly, in my heart, I had always loved both Mercedes and BMW, but once I began working here, I realized how different they are. BMWs really are a driver’s car. They still have that elegance and luxury that people appreciate, but it is their performance that makes them the Ultimate Driving Machine, a slogan that is so dead-on appropriate.

My family has been excited to witness how well my choice to move into this business has worked out. They know that in this position, I’m my total self. I can’t imagine waking up and going anywhere else. To find your dream job in your twenties is such a blessing.

I have an apartment in West Chester where I live with my Shih Tzu puppy. I love to read, travel, work out, and spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy skiing out West, being anywhere warm, and have Europe high on my vacation wish list.

I was born and raised in Coatesville on a working dairy farm begun by my grandfather, and it was something I assumed I’d continue into the next generation. It was a deeply satisfying way of life, but it was certainly relentless in its responsibilities. After my dad became disabled in my mid-teens, I took over running the operation, which meant getting up at early every morning and working very hard the entire day. I did that for five years, every day, without exception. When you’re a teenager that’s tough.

At 21, my father realized he needed to sell the farm, and that freed me to try several different work paths, including real estate appraising, selling phone systems, and finally, in 1996, to a job in the sales department at Town Motors, the Chrysler-Jeep dealership formerly on this site. When that business closed and the property was sold to Otto’s, it opened an obvious – and very attractive – opportunity to start selling BMWs. It was a significant upgrade for me in every way.

As different as my life is now – I have days off and get to go on vacation – I still feel connected to the farm in important ways, particularly in the lessons I learned. I know the value of hard work, for instance, and of going the extra mile, something I’m happy to do for my customers all the time.

What was new for me when I went into sales was realizing I had a gift for building relationships, for meeting people from all walks of life and being totally comfortable around them. For someone who kept his own company growing up, I now find that it is connecting with people which really animates me.

I’ve retained my interest in real estate, and as something of a hobby, have been investing in properties in the area. In one sense, I’m planting my stake in the world the way my grandfather did with the farm, but more important to me, I’m investing myself in trying to make a difference in the lives of my tenants. I find it very gratifying, particularly when I can be a mentoring force in the lives of kids who may not experience that in other ways.

As far as my time off, I enjoy watching sports and weight training. I would love to travel more, and plan to at my first opportunity.

I've been into performance cars and the mechanics of automobiles since I was a kid. My first BMW experience was behind the wheel of the newly-released Z3 at a Susan G. Komen 'Drive for the Cure' event. Until then, I could never understand why people made such a fuss about BMWs, but when I drove that car, top down, through the winding Chester County roads, I quickly understood.

As a part of my early training, I attended the BMW Academy in Greenville, SC, where I spent one week testing each model under the most extreme conditions. That experience showed me the unique driving characteristics of each car. I currently have an M3 Coupe with a six-speed transmission. It's like driving a race car: the handling and performance is unbelievable. It's also a very limited production model.

I came to Otto's with a very diverse employment background. I've worked in construction, been a musician, and was even a butcher for a number of years. I enjoy helping people, and I always try to make the process of car shopping as enjoyable as it can be.

My initial contact with BMW was back in college when I bought a vintage R75/5 motorcycle with 100,000 miles on it. That's where I was first blown away by BMW engineering.

Several years ago I went to one of the 'Drive For Life' events at Philadelphia Park. I test drove all the models and couldn't believe how incredible they were. With encouragement from my family, I just decided to follow my passion, and apply for a sales position here.

I find some of the activity here very similar to what I enjoyed in the high-end restaurant business. In both situations, people are coming in with a real sense of anticipation. My financial planning background leads me to stress the benefits of these cars, not just their impressive features. It's easy to look a prospective buyer in the eye and just say, 'these are the best cars in the world.'

When I'm not here, I enjoy playing golf and tennis - or working on the restoration of our 260-year-old home. Motorcycles used to be a strong interest, but now with a family, those days are behind me. I confess I am looking forward to the time when I retire my vintage MG and replace it with my favorite BMW, the Z4!

I was born in Kraków, Poland, but moved to the Philadelphia area with my parents when I was six. As it turned out, that set the tone for what has been – at least so far – a pretty adventurous life story that has taken me halfway around the world.

Chapter two began rather improbably when a buddy of mine, having watched “Blue Crush” one too many times, suggested we head out to Hawaii. He ultimately lost interest in the idea, but I actually followed through and went there in 2002 to go to college.

One thing I learned early about life in the 50th state is that you need several sources of income to survive. My first three or four years, I had what I would describe as “fun jobs” – surf instructor, restaurant worker – but soon realized you can’t really make it on those.

My transition into the adult world came when I applied for a sales position at the Harley Davidson dealership where I had bought a bike the previous year. A number of great things came from that decision. For one, I discovered I have an affinity for sales, but even more important, it was there that I met the woman I would marry.

By 2010, with one child and another on the way, we decided to relocate to the Philadelphia area, giving me a chance to reconnect with friends and family, and offering my parents their first opportunity to be with their grandchildren. I had concluded that automotive sales made more sense in this climate, and following a lead from my former GM at Harley Davidson, contacted Otto’s.

I liked the vibe here immediately. The people I met were great, the online reviews were very positive, and from what I could pick up in the community, this was a highly-regarded, family-owned operation much like the dealership in Hawaii. I was happy to accept their offer.

One of my strengths – and something that creates an immediate sense of trust with my clients – is my detailed understanding of BMWs, a distinction I worked very hard to achieve. It was a priority I learned as an estate planner, where I was dealing with my clients’ life savings. The numbers may be different here, but the principle is identical.

I find it can sometimes come in handy with clients that I speak Polish. I’m still fairly fluent because it’s the language my parents use with me almost exclusively. My wife, of course, has no idea what they’re saying, which can make family dinners pretty interesting.

I grew up in North Jersey and got my degree in business management in 2006 from Lock Haven University. Going into my senior year, I looked at the rather bleak employment landscape and decided I needed to nail down a job. Several professors had recommended the Enterprise Rent-a-Car program, so I went through the interviews and secured a position a few months before graduation.

The good news is that I did really well with the company, ultimately managing five stores and winning 20 consecutive sales awards. The bad news is that the hours were grueling, the pay was modest, and as is usually the case when people need to rent a car, customer attitudes were often a challenge, to say the least.

I was fortunate in one way, however. My territory included West Chester, and I often found myself providing overflow loaner cars for Otto’s. In working with various members of the management team here, I got very affirming comments about my initiative, dedication, and high level of customer service. They offered me a job on several occasions, but it wasn’t until I finally decided to part ways with Enterprise that I applied and was hired as a Sales Advisor.

In all candor, I wasn’t sure this would be the “dream job” I’d been hoping to find, nor did it seem to be getting me closer to my ultimate goal of owning my own business. But the irony, of course, is that here I am years later, and to my great good fortune, it seems I stumbled upon something I’m good at and like doing.

This position rewards me for hard work and still allows me to spend time with my family. And while before, it always seemed like I was seeing people on their worst day, here it’s the precise opposite: my clients come in because they actively want a BMW, and for them, that makes it a really good day.

Because of where and how I grew up, I find it easy to relate to our customers – and their love for BMWs. My goal is always to make the process fun, and to make sure it’s not only a good buying experience but also an excellent owning experience.

With the birth of my son, I’ve come to realize that being a father and husband is the best job in the world. Spending time as a family, whether at the beach or in our backyard, is absolutely the best.
