Performance:

The BMW 5 Series vs the Mercedes E Class is a classic rivalry of luxury cars, which are both designed to meet the needs of the modern professional. Both vehicles provide an exceptional driving experience, but the BMW 530i surpasses this rivalry due to its dominant performance. For starters, the 530i has more ponies (248 HP vs 241 HP), a faster 0-60 (6.0 sec vs 6.2 sec), and better fuel economy (27 MPG vs 25 MPG). The BMW also has more balanced weight distribution of 51.1 / 48.9, while the Mercedes E Class is front heavy with a weight distribution of 54.2 / 45.8. As is evident in comparative test drives, the 530i makes a huge difference when taking tough corners. The BMW is dynamic, which solidifies BMW’s moniker as “The Ultimate Driving Machine.”

Practicality:

While both practical vehicles, the BMW 5 Series is a much more practical option than the Mercedes E 300. To its credit, the Mercedes E-Class has an exceptionally beautiful interior, sprinkled with luxury, but the BMW 5 Series is an excellent blend of luxury and practicality, while also offering a much more stunning interior (in our “unbiased opinion”). The 530i provides the better fuel economy at 27 MPG combined, while the Merc’s fuel economy only hits 25 combined MPG. BMW is also the safer vehicle with standard Blind Spot Monitoring, Auto-Leveling Headlights, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist. This long list of safety features are not available with the E 300. Finally, the 530i has a larger trunk capacity with 18.7 cu-ft versus the Mercedes humble 13.1 cu-ft. So while the Mercedes E 300 looks nice and offers some luxury, the BMW 530i evolves the fusion of aesthetics, luxury, and practicality.
