Do I Need Service?

BMW Dashboard Warning Lights Chart – We discuss some BMW warning lights below. (Note: This is not a full list of BMW warning lights.)

Safety Belts
The Safety Belt indicator light illuminates or flashes with a signal sound. When this happens, it may mean that the safety belt has not been fastened or is not in the correct position. It’d be best to check whether the safety belt is worn and fastened when the Safety Belt BMW warning light is on. This indicator is active when the vehicle is moving at a speed above 5 mph.

Steering System (Integral Active Steering)

When the Integral Active Steering indicator turns on when the engine is running, it’s advisable to turn the steering wheel uniformly all the way to the left and right approximately six times. Do this until the warning light turns off. If the indicator light remains on despite turning the steering wheel as explained or even when the steering wheel is at an angle, then it’d be best to have the system checked.

Airbag System

When the Airbag System BMW dashboard symbol lights up or flashes, it could mean that the belt tensioners and/or airbag system has failed. It’s imperative to get a system checkup immediately. Also be sure to fasten the safety belts away.

Check Engine

The Check Engine BMW warning light flashes when there may be random misfiring in the engine. When this happens, it’d be best to reduce the speed and have the system checked as immediately as possible.
